Castleknock fail to find net against Cabinteely

Castleknock were unlucky not to add to their points against a visiting Cabinteely side.
Despite some promising moves from Castleknock, Cabinteely went ahead 1-0 in the first half of the game.
Cabinteely kept this narrow lead for most of the game, with Castleknock always threatening to draw level.

Late in the game, Cabinteely managed to get a second goal which seemed to kill off Castleknock's fighting spirit.
Cabinteely managed to get two more late goals making the final score 4-0 to the visitors.

Castleknock share the points away to Knocklyon

Castleknock travelled to Knocklyon, looking for a positive result after their last cup meeting with the side.
Castleknock were first to start the attack and put Knocklyon under pressure. When a free kick was awarded to the visitors 15 minutes into the game, Omar stepped up to shoot at goal.
His kick hit Knocklyon's defensive wall and Robert took the opportunity to strike the ball past the keeper to make it 1-0 to Castleknock.

The game continued with pressure from both ends, Andy and Dylan were kept very busy in defense but dealt quickly with any danger from the home side.

Castleknock had many chances in the first half and had victory in their sights when Kevin took a long range shot from outside the box and made it 2-0 to Castleknock.

Castleknock's fortune changed soon after when Andy was taken off injured with a knee injury. Castleknock had to arrange their back line with Mustafa standing in for Andy in defense. Knocklyon managed to get a lucky break and and got one back to make it 2-1 at half time.

10 minutes into the second half, Knocklyon brought the game level, leaving Castleknock with some work to do to get the 3 points that they promised their manager!
Castleknock got the game started but were under pressure again and looked to be going behind when team captain Zuhdi managed to save a shot that was heading for the top corner.
The pressure continued from Knocklyon, but Zuhdi managed to pull off another great save to keep Castleknock in the game.

Things were not looking good for Castleknock, Omar was taken off with an ankle injury, and just when Castleknock had thought they had gone in front with a goal from Mohammed, the referee disallowed it and awarded a free kick to Knocklyon!

Castleknock were not finished though, John had broke free and had a goal in his sights when he was viciously taken down in the penalty area. The Knocklyon defender was sent off and a penalty was awarded.
John took a great penalty but the goalkeeper was a good match for it and managed to turn it wide for a corner.

An excellent game which ended 2-2, and a great performance by all.

Another hard decision this week but man of the match goes to Cormac who was unbeatable today in defense. Well done Cormac!

Castleknock robbed at home to Dunboyne

Castleknock Celtic were unlucky to lose out on the points today as they faced Dunboyne.
Castleknock started well and all the action was happening in front of the Dunboyne goal with some great work from Cathal and Gavan who were doing all the work on the wings.
John and Kevin had a couple of good chances only to see them stopped by the Dunboyne keeper.

Late into the first half, Dunboyne made a break and managed to get a shot past the solid Castleknock defense making it 1-0 to the visitors.

The second half started the same way as the first, with Castleknock putting on the pressure.
Mustafa, Sam, Omar and Mohammed were doing most of the work in midfield but it was not their day as they saw most of their efforts going wide or saved by the keeper.

Castleknock were unlucky again after the referee awarded Dunboyne a penalty after an accidental handball in the area. Goalkeeper David got his fingers to it but couldn't stop the ball going over the line to make it 2-0 to the visiting side.

Castleknock threw everything into the last few minutes, putting constant pressure on Dunboyne but could not finish with a goal. The score ended Castleknock 0 Dunboyne 2, a disappointing result for Castleknock who deserved better for their efforts.

Early Exit from the Cup

Castleknock failed to progress in the Cup against last weeks opponents Knocklyon Utd despite a great overall performance in the second half.

Two early goals for Knocklyon gave them the advantage in the first few minutes in the game and Castleknock struggled to get back into the game.

Castleknock came out fighting in the second half and managed to get two great goals courtesy of Robert and Kevin, but it was not enough to get them through to the next round.
The final score was 5-2 to Knocklyon, who had a much better game when compared to the previous week.

Castleknock make it Two in a Row

Castleknock were celebrating today after a convincing win against Knocklyon United.
It was Knocklyon who opened the scoring with a lucky break when they managed to get past Castleknock captain Frank and centre half Cormac to put the ball past Zuhdi in goals.

From that point, it was Castleknock who were determined to get the game back on level terms. Mustafa, Shane, Gavan and Sam were winning everything in midfield and causing problems for the Knocklyon defence. Castleknock had many chances but it was John who brought the teams level when he managed to beat his marker and put a shot past the keeper just before the half time whistle.

Castleknock had confidence going into the second half and looked like scoring when Donagh put his shot just wide after a corner. Gavan and Sam were applying pressure on the wings and provided Kevin with a scoring chance which he put away to put his side 2-1 up.
Knocklyon responded by going on the attack but could not get past the excellent Castleknock defence, and just when they thought that they had an equalizer, Cormac swooped in to clear the line and keep his team ahead.

It was Mohammed who sealed the victory for Castleknock with well placed shot from a corner that crept past the post to make the final score 3-1.

Overall it was a great team effort by Castleknock and an outstanding performances by defenders Andy and Omar that secured the 3 points for Castleknock.
A very difficult decision this to pick a man of the match but Omar wins it this week as he had an excellent game standing in for Dylan who is out with a toe injury.

Well done Omar and well done to the whole team for another great result.

Victory over St Maelruans

Castleknock burst into action today from the kick off in Porterstown today. Early attacks from Omar, Gavan and John left the visiting side feeling that today was not going to be their day.
It was Kevin who opened the scoring when he broke with the ball just outside the St Maelruans penalty area, beat the defenders and slotted the ball home to put Castleknock one goal up.

Castleknock kept the pressure on as Mohammed and Robert were winning lots of the ball in midfield and passing it through to the danger area, Gavin took possession in the St Maelruans penalty area and was almost certain to score when he was brutally taken down in the box. The referee pointed to the spot for a penalty which John converted to make it 2-0 to Castleknock.

St Maelruans made a few breaks in the first half but were unable to get past a tight central defence as Dylan and captain for the day Cormac cleared all danger from the Castleknock half.
Zuhdi was on top form in goal and managed to keep a clean sheet on the day.

Late in the first half Castleknock could have made it 3-0 but Omar's strike was disallowed as John had been caught by the offside trap. Kevin also had a great scoring chance but collided with the goalkeeper and had to be taken off injured, making way for Sam to join the game.

The second half started with at the same exciting pace with plenty of attacking runs from Sam and Mustafa providing some great crosses and passes to the forwards. Sam came close to scoring as he had beat the keeper but saw his effort cleared off the St Maelruan's line.
Frank and Andy were also able to turn some defensive moves in to excellent attacking and scoring chances.

Robert made way for Shane in the second half and it only took minutes for Shane to put Castleknock 3-0 up with a great strike.
Cathal and Donagh joined the game and brought some new energy to the game and kept the pressure on St Maelruans.
There were late chances from David, Sam and Andy but the game ended 3-0 and the Castleknock supporters were kept very entertained throughout.

Picking a man of the match today was very difficult as there were a number of great performances from all members of the team, but this weeks it goes to Sam for working very hard on the left side and creating a lot of scoring chances.

Well done everyone!

Ballybrack steal victory with late goals

The new season finally got underway with an away match against Ballybrack FC. Castleknock arrived just in time for the 10:30 kick off, but with Zuhdi and Omar still on the way, Donagh bravely decided to start his first game for Celtic in goal.

Castleknock started the first half brilliantly, putting the home side under pressure with some promising breaks down the right side with Dylan and Gavan causing problems for Ballybrack.
Castleknock had the game under control with the back four of Dylan, Andy, Cormac and Frank catching the opposing forwards off side and clearing any danger.

Omar made way for Donagh in goal after goalkeeper Zuhdi arrived with a dubious hand injury and decided not to start in his position. Omar was tested straight away as Ballybrack made a break and managed to shoot, but Omar stayed in control as the shot hit the cross bar and was collected by the keeper.

Midfielders Robert, Mustafa, Gavan and Sam worked very hard to supply the forwards with some chances and it paid off just before half time as Kevin managed to find the back of the net after some great skill on the box making it 0-1 to Castleknock at half time.

The second half saw Castleknock under pressure to keep their lead but some great defending by the back four kept Castleknock ahead. Donagh and Shane made way for some tired legs in midfield and worked very hard to get the ball back in Ballybrack's half, but the home side managed to bring things level after a lucky long range shot.
Ballybrack managed to get a second goal later in the second half, making the score 2-1 to the home side.

Castleknock restarted the game and immediately went on the attack with great chances for Kevin and David to bring the score level. John saw his great shot saved by the keeper before the full time whistle went.

Overall a great performance by all, and some excellent first time performances from Donagh and Cormac who played their first games for Castleknock today.
